2012: European Year on Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity. Social involvement
This bulletin marks the end of the series dedicated to the Year on Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity, as established for 2012 by the European Parliament and Commission.
The most relevant and recent data regarding the social and cultural involvement of the oldest population in Spain and the European area is included herein. Social involvement is an important factor in what is considered the quality of life, which tends to decrease as age increases.
2012: European Year on Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity. Life conditions
The year 2012 has been declared by the European Union to be the European Year on Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity (European Parliament and Council Decision no. 940/2011/EU, of 14 September 2011). In the context of this statement, the INE Figures collection will publish, in subsequent numbers, the most relevant statistical results regarding the demographics, labour market and retirement, health, living conditions and social participation of elderly persons in Spain and our European environment.
This issue includes some data regarding the living conditions of the elderly, with regard to forms of cohabitation, income, consumption expenditure, etc...
