Definition

The total water consumed for irrigation is classified percentually in two ways, first based on the origin of the water, and then based on the management scheme thereof.

The water consumed for irrigation may come from groundwater (wells, drilling or springs on the holding), surface water (ponds or reservoirs) on the holding, from lakes, rivers or natural sources of water outside of the holding, from common water-supply networks, from regenerated water and from desalinated seawater or brackish water.

Considering the irrigation water management system, this includes the percentage of the volume of water used, according to the type of concession available to the holding, distinguishing between a concession integrated in an Irrigation community, or any other water management system.
