Definition
The flows of materials reflect the physical inputs of materials that enter the national economic system, and the outputs to other economies or to the environment. Flows are measured in physical units (tonnes) and they describe the extraction, transformation, consumption and final elimination of chemical elements, raw materials or products.Source
