Survey on Disability, Personal Autonomy and Dependency Situations
The Disability Surveys are statistical operations in the form of macro-surveys, which respond to the demand for this information on behalf of the Public Administrations and of numerous users, particularly non-governmental organisations. These surveys cover a a good part of the information needs regarding the disability phenomena, dependency, the ageing of the population and the state of health of the population resident in Spain.
Three macro-surveys were conducted: the Survey on Disabilities, Impairment and Handicaps in 1986, the Survey on Disabilities, Impairment and Health Status in 1999 and the Survey on Disability, Personal Autonomy and Dependency Situations in 2008.
The methodologies follow the World Health Organisation recommendations, and in particular, the international classifications in force during the year when the survey is carried out.
