More information

The annual rate of the overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June was 2.3%, three tenths higher than that registered the previous month.

The groups that stood out most in terms of their influence on the increase in the annual rate were:

  • Transportation, whose annual rate increased 1.2 points of a percentage point to -0.8%. This behaviour was due to the rise in the price of Fuels and lubricants for personal vehicles, against the decrease in June 2024.
  • Housing, whose annual rate rose by four tenths to 4.2%, due to the increase in Gas prices and, to a lesser extent, in Liquid fuel prices, compared with the fall in June of the previous year.
  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages, whose annual variation stood at 2.8%, was three tenths higher than in the previous month. This behaviour was mainly due to a decline in the prices of Legumes and vegetables, which was lower than in the same month in 2024, and an increase in the price of Meat and Fish and seafood.

The annual variation rate of core inflation (general index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) stood at 2.2%, the same as the previous month.

  • Housing, whose monthly rate of 1.2% contributed 0.147 to the general CPI. This change was due to the increase in Electricity prices.
  • Transportation, at 0.9% with a repercussion of 0.124, due to the rise in the prices of Passenger air transport and Fuels and lubricants for personal vehicles.
