Flash estimate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI)
Flash estimate of the Harmonised Consumer Price Index (HCPI)

October 2026

Main results

  • The annual change in the flash estimate of the CPI stands at 4.9% in October, the same as the one registered in September.
  • The annual rate of the core inflation flash estimate stands at 3.1%.
  • The annual variation of the HICP flash estimate is 4.9%.

More information

According to the flash estimate issued by the INE, the annual inflation of the CPI in October 2026 is 4.9%.

This indicator provides an advance in the CPI which, if confirmed, would mean that the annual rate remains unchanged, as this variation was 4.9% in September.

This estimate highlights the downward influence of fuels and lubricants for private vehicles, whose prices are falling more sharply than in October 2025. Also, albeit to a lesser extent, the prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks and clothing, which are rising, but less so than in October 2025.

Conversely, contributing to the upward trend are package holidays, whose prices are falling, but by less than in October last year; gas, whose prices are rising more than a year ago; and liquid fuels, which are rising compared with the fall seen in the same month of the previous year.

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)The estimated annual variation rate of core inflation (general index without unprocessed food or energy products) stands at 3.1%.
