Description
The Continuous Population Statistics provides quarterly quantitative
measurements of the population residing in Spain, the population
residing in family homes and the number of households. It offers
information at the national level, by autonomous communities,
provinces and islands disaggregated by various criteria, such
as sex, age, nationality or place of birth. Household data are
provided disaggregated by household size.
The Continuous Population Statistics publishes population data
since 2002 (some series since 1971) and data on the number of
households since 2021.
Uses administrative records to collect and analyze demographic
data regularly and continuously over time, providing up-to-date
and detailed information about the population, allowing dynamic
monitoring of demographic changes.
Reference figures
The Continuous Population Statistics unifies population figures
into a series that is consistent at all geographic levels and
conforms to European regulations.
Its figures are used as a reference in all INE statistical operations
and are transmitted internationally as official data on the population
of Spain for all purposes. .
Migration Movements
The Continuous Population Statistics also publishes a selection
of the most representative foreign migratory flows since 2023.
These are departure movements, as they consist of some types of
variations of entry and exit in the continuous Register.
Therefore, these counts should not be considered provisional
results of total migratory flows, since these data are provided
at the end of each year in the Statistics of Migrations and Changes
of Residence.
