Guidelines for Final papers

Papers are expected to be not less than 5 pages and not more than about 10 pages in length.
All text must be written in English.
Paper text must be in Microsoft word format. (.doc or docx).
Papers will be published on the conference website immediately after the congress.

Guidelines

1. Length of Paper

Papers are expected to be not less than 5 pages and not more than about 10 pages in length. This is calculated in terms of the printed format, with 1.5 line spacing, and with the use of 12pts.
All text must be written in English.
Paper text must be in Microsoft word ( doc.or docx format) file.
The type font is Times New Roman, with the following sizes:

Title of paper: Please use 24pts.
Main text: Please use 12pts. Main headings should be bold, subheadings should be in Italics. Please use 1.5 lines, paragraph format line spacing 12 pts. Before, 0 pts. after
Abstract, footnotes, etc.: Please use 10pts.

2. Layout

Title: Please centre the title and the name, affiliation and email of the authors.
Abstract: The abstract should be centered and should give the visual image of a block (albeit without lines around it).
Numbering of Sections: Sections should be consecutively numbered by Arabic numerals (not by Roman numerals or Capital letters). Main sections should have 1 digit designations; subsections 2 digit (1.1, 1.2, etc.) All headings (section titles) should be flush left.

3. Equations, Figures and Tables

The equations should be centred, 6pt space above and below to the text. Equation numbers should be flush right. Please use Equation Editor to create displayed equations.

Figures and tables should be included directly in the files you submit. They should be at high resolution. All figures and tables must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numbers in bold type (e.g. Fig. 1, etc). The size of a figure/table should be commensurate with the amount and value of the information the figure has to convey. Do not assemble figures at the back of your paper, but place them as close as possible to where they are mentioned in the main text.

4. References
References and citations should follow the Harvard (Autor, date) System Convention. As example you may consider the citation (Jones, 2016). Besides that, all references should be cited in the text. Guidelines for Presentations

BEFORE THE CONFERENCE

The size per upload is limited with 20 MB
Accepted formats for oral presentation: Power Point and Prezi formats (flash file)
The presentations must be written in English
Deadline for upload: 16th of May 2016
Authors are expected to present their paper in person at the congress; in any other case the conference organizers should be informed as soon as possible

DURING THE CONFERENCE

Slide Centre

At the conference venue a slide center area will be installed for your convenience. We kindly ask all chairs/speakers to check their slides there prior to presentation and/or in case of alterations (at least 1 hour ahead of your session). A team of technicians on site will help you with any question regarding your presentation.
Each presentation should not exceed 10-12 minutes (4 minutes in case of speed talk presentations). Keeping time limit is crucial since delegates are allowed to move from one session to another

Genovefa Ružić

Director-General of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia

Ms Genovefa Ružić graduated at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, in economic analysis and planning in January 1985. She started her career at the Statistical Office 31 years ago and has since worked in different statistical domains, mainly in the field of social and economic statistics. She was also Head of the Social Statistics Division. For six years she worked for the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs as Head of Analysis and Development in the Field of Social Affairs. At that time she was an intensive user of statistics while preparing analyses and studies as a basis for decision-making. She coordinated the preparation of the first national Programme to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion.

Ms Ružić was appointed Deputy Director-General of the Statistical Office of Slovenia in June 2003. As Deputy Director-General she was responsible for leading key projects at the Statistical Office of Slovenia and for coordination with other national institutions. She was Deputy President of the Statistical Council of Slovenia and a member of the Slovenian Council for Sustainable Development. Ms Ružić was Chair of the Council Working Party on Statistics during the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2008.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Ms Ružić Director-General of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia effective on 21 August 2013 for a period of five years.

Her professional work involves also activities in European statistical system and in the international statistical environment. The European Statistical System Committee elected her chair of the ESS Partnership Group for the 2016-2018 period.

Ms Ružić is also a member of the UNECE High-level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics and a member of the Bureau of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy.

Wayne Smith

Chief Statistician of Canada, Wayne Smith

Born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Wayne Smith completed an Honours B.A. and
Masters degree in Economics at Carleton University in Ottawa.

His early career was in the library, academic and news media sectors. In 1981, he joined Statistics Canada, working in the advisory services, communications, census and agriculture programs before becoming Director of Communications Division in 1990. After assignments as Director of Special Surveys Division and Director General of Regional Operations Branch, he was appointed in 2004 as Assistant Chief Statistician, Communications and Operations.

In April 2009, he became Assistant Chief Statistician of Business and Trade Statistics Field. In this role, his principal responsibilities involved the conduct of Statistics Canada surveys and administrative data programs in the areas of agriculture, business, international trade and prices. On September 2nd, 2010, by Order in Council, Wayne R. Smith was appointed interim Chief Statistician and confirmed as Chief Statistician of Canada on January 18, 2011.

Mr. Smith chairs the Conference of European Statisticians under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and is vice-chair of the Bureau of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy. At the request of the UN Secretary-General, in 2014 he served on an Independent Expert Advisory Group on the Data Revolution for Sustainable Development.
