Concept selected: Number of generations in the household
- Definition
-
The number of generations is the maximum number of times that a mother or father is found among all of the values calculated for each one of the persons in the household.
- Notes
In order to calculate the number of generations in the household, we seek, for each person, her/his father and mother, the father and mother of her/his father, the father and mother of her/his mother, and so on and so forth. If no person in the household states another as his/her mother or father, the number of generations is 1; if the household comprises a couple with children, the number will be 2, and so on.
