Did you know...?
The Statistics on the Adult Convicted Population is compiled by the INE according to information available in the Central Register of Convicted Persons, which belong to the Ministry of Justice. Its statistical exploitation is a consequence of collaboration agreement signed in 2007 between both institutions, updated and renewed on 21 November 2017.
The fundamental purpose of this statistic is to analyse the sociodemographic characteristics of adults convicted by final sentence throughout the reference period. It also provides information on the crimes committed by convicted individuals as well as the sentences imposed. Since 2017, more detailed information on sexual offences has also been provided.
