Registrations of certifications for mortgage foreclosures initiated in property registries increased by 32.7% in the fourth quarter on annual rate. Foreclosures on dwellings of natural persons increased by 33.1% and foreclosures initiated on usual dwellings increased by 34.5%.

The Foreclosure statistics provide information on certifications of foreclosures initiated and registered in the Land Registers during the reference quarter, relating to all rural and urban properties. All of this information is broken down, based on variables such as the type of building, system, status and owner of those dwellings with foreclosure initiated.
All of the information on certifications of foreclosures is taken from the information contained in the Land Registers for the whole of the national territory. The Association of Land and Mercantile Registrars of Spain (CORPME) provides centralised information to the INE.
