Non-hotel Tourist Accommodation Occupancy Survey

Main results

  • Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation fell by 2.8% in June compared to the same month in 2025.
  • Overnight stays in apartments decreased by 3.6% over the same month in 2025, those in camp-sites by 0.9%, rural tourism by 0.3% and those in hostels by 13.2%.
  • The Tourist Apartment Price Index (TAPI) rose by 4.0% and the Tourist Campsite Price Index (TCPI) by 2.1%. In contrast, the Rural Tourism Price Index (RTPI) fell by 0.1%.

Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (apartments, camp-sites, rural tourism accommodation and hostels) exceeded 14.9 million in June, with a 2.8% decrease compared with the same month last year.

Overnight stays by residents decreased by 0.7% and those by non-residents by 4.8%. The average stay was 3.7 overnight stays per traveller.

Apartments

Overnight stays in tourist flats decreased by 3.6% in June. Those by residents rose by 1.9%, while those of non-residents dropped by 6.4%.

The average stay fell by 8.7%, to 4.2 overnight stays per traveller.

In June, 41.1% of the places offered were occupied, 1.9% more than in the same month of 2025. The occupancy rate by bed-places at the weekend was 46.8%, 2.5% more.

Non-resident travellers accounted for 64.1% of overnight stays. The United Kingdom was the main market of origin, with 35.6% of the total.

Canarias was the preferred destination for apartments, with more than two million overnight stays, down by 0.2% compared to June 2025. Illes Balears had the highest occupancy, with 79.5% of the apartments offered.

By tourist area, the Costa Blanca was the preferred destination, with more than 736,000 overnight stays. Isla de Mallorca had the highest occupancy rate, with 83.8%. The tourist locations with the greatest number of overnight stays were San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Mogán and Arona.

Campsites

Overnight stays in camp-sites decreased by 0.9% in June compared with the same month in 2025. Those of residents decreased by 1.7%, while those of non-residents increased by 0.3%.

In June, 45.5% of the plots on offer were occupied, an increase of 1.9% in annual rate. The weekend occupancy rate reached 48.9%, a fall of 1.5%. Non-resident travellers accounted for 38.4% of overnight stays. The Netherlands was the main market of origin, with 23.0% of the total.

Cataluña was the preferred destination in campsites, with more than 2.8 million overnight stays, and a decrease of 7.4% in annual rate. La Rioja achieved the highest occupancy rate, with 67.1% of the sites offered.

By tourist area, the Costa Brava was the preferred destination, with more than 1.4 million overnight stays. The Costa Blanca had the highest occupancy rate, with 69.3%. The tourist sites with the most overnight stays were Torroella de Montgrí, Benidorm and Mont-roig del Camp.

Rural tourism accommodation

Overnight stays in rural tourist accommodation decreased by 0.3% in June compared with the same month in 2025. Those by residents rose by 1.3%, while those of non-residents dropped by 2.9%.>

22.8% of the bedplaces were occupied, 2.0% less than in June 2025. The weekend occupancy rate stood at 39.9%, with a year-on-year decrease of 2.0%.

Illes Balears was the preferred destination, with more than 249,000 overnight stays, 10.1% more than in June 2025. The region also achieved the highest occupancy rate, with 67.3%.

By tourist areas, Isla de Mallorca was the preferred destination, with more than 190,000 thousand overnight stays, plus the highest occupancy, with a 67.5% of the places offered.

Hostels

Overnight stays at hostels fell by 13.2% in June. Spanish resident overnight stays fell by 10.8%, and those of non-residents by 16.1%.

32.3% of the bedplaces were occupied, 12.3% less than in June 2025. The weekend occupancy rate stood at 37.7%, with a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%.

Galicia was the preferred destination, with more than 139,000 overnight stays. Comunidad de Madrid achieved the highest occupancy rate, with 54.2% of the bed-places offered.

Price indices

The Tourist Apartment Price Index (TAPI) increased by 4.0% in June compared to the same month of 2025 and the Tourist Campsite Price Index (TCPI) rose by 2.1%. In contrast, the Rural Tourism Price Index (RTPI) fell by 0.1%.
