In September, Spain received 9.7 million international tourists, 0.8% more than in the same month in 2024.
In the first nine months of 2025, the number of tourists visiting Spain increased by 3.5% and approached 76.5 million. This is the highest figure since the INE's FRONTUR records began.
Annual variation. Percentage
The United Kingdom was the main country of residence, with almost 2.1 million tourists and an increase of 2.0% compared to September 2024. There were 1.3 million arrivals from Germany (2.5% fewer) and 1.1 million from France (1.6% fewer).

The main sending countries during the first nine months were the United Kingdom (with around 15.3 million tourists and an increase of 4.0%), France (with over 10.2 million and a drop of 0.1%) and Germany (with nearly 9.5 million, 1.4% more).
The number of tourists who chose market accommodation as their main type of accommodation increased by 0.7% in annual terms. Within this type, hotel accommodation grew by 0.7% while rented dwellings fell by 1.2%. Non-market accommodation increased by 1.6%.
A stay of four to seven nights was the main length among tourists, with more than 4.7 million tourists and an annual increase of 0.3%. The number of visitors increased by 7.7% among those without overnight stays (excursionists) and increased by 3.1% among tourists with longer duration (more than 15 nights).
More than 7.0 million tourists travelled without a tourist package in September, an increase of 2.6%. Over 2.6 million travellers arrived with package tours, a fall of 3.6%.
Illes Balears was the main destination for tourists in September, with 22.6% of the total. It was followed by Cataluña (20.9%) and Andalucía (15.3%).
Illes Balears received 1.8% more tourists than in September 2024. The number of tourists visiting Cataluña decreased by 1.4% and 3.4% more tourists came to Andalucía.
In the accumulated first nine months of 2025, the Autonomous Communities that received the most tourists were Cataluña (with 15.8 million, unchanged compared with the same period in 2024), Illes Balears (with 13.7 million and an increase of 3.0%) and Andalucía (11.5 million, 7.3% more).

The main objective of the Tourist Movement on Borders Survey (FRONTUR) is to estimate the number of non-residents visiting Spain on a monthly basis, as well as to know the main characteristics of the trips made by these visitors. The international definitions and recommendations of the UN Tourism and EUROSTAT in this field are followed when preparing the FRONTUR.
