September 2025

Main results

  • The annual variation rate of the September CPI stood at 3.0%, three tenths above that recorded in August.
  • The annual rate of core inflation remained unchanged at 2.4%.
  • The monthly variation of the general rate was -0.3%.
  • The annual rate of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 3.0%, three tenths of a percentage point higher than that of the previous month.

The annual rate of the overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in September was 3.0%, three tenths higher than that registered the previous month.

The groups that stood out most in terms of their influence on the increase in the annual rate were:

  • Transport, whose annual rate increased by one percentage point to 2.2%, due to a smaller decline in prices for fuel and lubricant for personal vehicles than in September 2024.

Also noteworthy, although in the opposite direction, was the decrease in Passenger air transport, higher than that recorded in the same month the previous year.

  • Housing, whose annual rate increased 1.1 points to stand at 7.1%. This behaviour was mainly due to the decrease in electricity prices, lower than last September.

The annual variation rate of core inflation (general index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) stood at 2.4%, the same as recorded for the previous month.
