Industrial Price Index. 2021 Baseline

January 2025. Provisional data

Main Results

  • The annual variation of the Industrial Price Index increased by three tenths in January, up to 2.6%.
  • The monthly rate of industrial producer prices was 0.4%.

The annual rate of the general Industrial Price Index (IPRI) was 2.6% in January, three tenths higher than in December of the previous year.

By the economic use of the goods, among the industrial sectors that had a notably positive effect on the evolution of the annual rate of the General IPRI were:

  • Energy, at a rate of 8.6%, one point higher than the previous month, resulting from higher prices for Gas production; pipeline distribution of gaseous fuels, which decreased in January 2024, and higher prices in Manufacture of petroleum than in the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, although conversely, it is worth noting the decline in the prices of Production, transmission and distribution of electric energy, which had risen in January 2024.

On the other hand, amongst the industrial sectors with a negative influence, worth noting are:

  • Non-durable consumer goods, whose annual variation decreased by 0.6 points and stood at -1.5% due to falling prices in Manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats, compared with the increase in the previous January.

The annual variation rate of the general index excluding Energy remained stable at -0.2% and was 2.8 points lower than that of the general IPRI.
