Export Price Index (IPRIX) and Import Price Index (IPRIM) of Industrial Products. Base 2021

The annual rate of the Export Price Index (IPRIX) in September was -0.2%, the same recorded for the month of August.

Among the industrial sectors that had a negative influence on the evolution of the annual rate of the IPRIX by economic use of the goods, the following stand out:

• Non-durable consumer goods, whose rate stands at -1.8%, three tenths below that of August, due to the fact that the prices of meat processing, preserving and preparation of meat products decreased more than in September 2024.
• Consumer durables, whose change decreased by 1.3 points to 1.4%, as a result of the fall in the prices of the Manufacture of household appliances, which increased in the same month in the previous year.

On the other hand, among the industrial sectors which had a notably positive influence are:

• Energy, which showed an annual change of -7.5%.
• Capital goods, whose rate stood at 2.3%, the same as the previous month. This behaviour was mainly due to the drop in the prices of Manufacture of metal items for construction, which were lower than in September of last year. On the other hand, it should be noted that the increase in prices of the Manufacture of motor vehicles was lower than in the same month of 2024.

The annual variation of the general index excluding Energy fell by one tenth, to 0.0%, two tenths above that of the general IPRIX.

The Industrial Price Index of the domestic and foreign market, which is obtained as an aggregation of the IPRI and the IPRIX, rose in terms of its annual rate by 1.4 points in September to 0.2%. As for the annual variation of the general index without Energy, it was steady at -0.1%.

The Import Price Index (IPRIM) recorded an annual rate of -1.7% in September, seven tenths higher than in August.

By economic use, the industrial sectors with a positive influence on the variation of the annual rate of the IPRIM included the following:

• Energy, which had an annual variation of -8.6%, 2.4 above that of previous month, resulting from the increased prices in Extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas and Coke plants and oil refining, fell less than in the same month in 2024.
• The rate of Intermediate goods rose by five tenths to -0.3%, due to the decrease in prices of the Chemical Industry and Metallurgy; manufacturing of iron, steel and ferroalloy products, which were lower than in September of last year.

The annual variation rate of the overall index excluding Energy increased by two tenths, to -0.2%, which is 1.5 points above the rate of the general IPRIM.

In September, the monthly variation of the Import Price Index was -0.3%.
