More than 508.8 million passengers used public transport in March, 8.4% more than in the same month of 2024.
The annual rate for city transport increased by 10.0% and for inter-city transport 5.4%. Within the latter, it is worth noting the 12.8% rise in the bus transport.

City transport was used by more than 316.9 million passengers in March, 10.0% more than in the same month of 2024.
Metro transport increased by 8.9% in annual rate and City transport by bus increased by 10.8% in March.
More than 146.1 million passengers used inter-city transport in March, representing a 5.4% increase as compared with the same month of 2024.
By mode of transport, the bus transport increased by 12.8%, and the air transport by 0.1%, whereas the rail transport decreased by 2.2%, and the maritime transport by 7.7%.

More than 45.6 million passengers used special and unscheduled transport in March, indicating an increase of 7.5% in annual rate.
The number of special transport passengers increased by 13.4%, reaching more than 29.5 million users. Within this, school transport increased by 14.3% and work transport did so by 10.3%.
Finally, unscheduled transport decreased by 1.9% as compared with the same month of 2024, with more than 16.0 million passengers.
All the Autonomous Communities showed positive annual rates.
The highest increases were showed in País Vasco (22.3%), Extremadura (16.7%) and Región de Murcia (14.8%).
In turn, Comunitat Valenciana (3.6%), Canarias (6.8%) and Cataluña (7.9%) showed the lowest increases in bus transport.

Metro transport decreased in Sevilla, Málaga and Valencia, and increased in the rest of cities with this type of transport. Palma's metro registered the highest increase (29.7%), and Valencia's registered the highest decrease (13.8%).

The purpose of the Passenger Transport Statistics (PT) is to provide monthly information regarding the number of passengers transported by city transport (bus and metropolitan), inter-city transport (road, rail, air and sea) and special and unscheduled bus transport.
Road transport in researched through a simple survey. For rail transport, the number of passengers is calculated using the information provided by the railway operators (RENFE and other autonomous companies). The information for air transport is provided by Civil Aviation, and for sea transport, the number of passengers disembarked is compiled using information from State Ports.
