Flash estimate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI)
Flash estimate of the Harmonised Consumer Price Index (HCPI)

February 2026

Main results

  • The annual change in the flash estimate of the CPI stands at 2.3% in February, the same as the one registered in January.
  • The annual rate of the core inflation flash estimate increases one tenth to 2.7%.
  • The annual variation of the HICP flash estimate is 2.5%.
  • From today, preliminary data on the most relevant special groups of the CPI and HICP are also published on INEbase.

According to the flash estimate issued by the INE, the annual inflation of the CPI in February 2026 was 2.3%.

This indicator provides an advance in the CPI which, if confirmed, would mean that the annual rate remains stable, as this variation was 2.3% in January.

This behaviour is affected by the decline in electricity prices, which rose in February 2025.

Meanwhile, there is a notable upward influence from fuels and lubricants for personal vehicles, restaurants and accommodation services , and food and non-alcoholic beverages, whose prices are rising more than in the same month last year.

The estimated annual variation rate of core inflation (general index without unprocessed food or energy products) increases one tenth, to 2.7%.
