Foreign nationals in the EU and in Spain

Population and economic changes

The foreign population resident in Spain reaches 5.7 million inhabitants, more than 12% of the total number of residents in this country. Spain is the European Union country with the second largest foreign population, and in which this represents one of the highest proportions as compared with the total population.
The foreign population living in EU countries is diverse and, in general, younger than the national population.
