1.4.2. Proportion of population aged 25-64 with ISCED level 0,1 or 2 as the highest level of education

Description of indicator

It is the ratio between the number of residents aged 25-64 (with ISCED level 0,1 or 2 as the highest level of education) and the population 25-64 years.

Definitions are based on the International Standard Classification of Education 2011 (ISCED 2011) published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and cultural Organization. Data until 2013 are classified according to ISCED 1997 and data as from 2014 according to ISCED 2011 (coding of educational attaintment).

In the 2011 data, the numerator and denominator are obtained from the 2011 Census. In the 2016 data, the numerator and denominator are obtained from the precensus file 2016 (the educational data are based in various administrative registers).

  • Level 0: Early childhood education.
  • Level 1: Primary education.
  • Level 2: Lower secondary education.
