October 1st. International day for Older Persons
We live longer and longer
Currently, in Spain, there is one person aged 65 years old and over for each four persons of working age. The life expectancy of Spaniards (83.2 years) is the second highest in the EU. One out of three households of elderly persons has income of less than 9,000 euros per year. Their educational level is very low (primary or less). It takes them three-and-a-half hours a day to follow the media. The most frequent cause of death is cerebrovascular disease. We are witnessing the aging of the Spanish population.
