The indicator Existence of independent national institutions in compliance with the Paris Principles measures compliance with the Paris Principles adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (Resolution 48/134).
A National Human Rights Institution is an independent administrative body to promote and protect human rights with a constitutional or legislative mandate, which operates and functions independently from the government.
