Partiendo del número de razas transfronterizas existentes en nuestro país (de acuerdo con la definición de la FAO, una raza transfronteriza es aquella que está reportada por más de un país), se determina el porcentaje de las mismas que cuentan con material genético almacenado en bancos de germoplasma en una cantidad que permita su reconstitución en caso de extinción. Dicha cantidad de material se calcula en la web DAD-IS de la FAO (https://www.fao.org/dad-is/es/) en base al contenido de la Guía sobre Crioconservación de los Recursos Genéticos Animales (FAO, 2012), accesible en http://www.fao.org/docrep/016/i3017e/i3017e00.htm. Los datos son suministrados a DAD-IS desde el Sistema Nacional de Información de Razas, ARCA. A su vez, ARCA recoge, anualmente, la información de material genético almacenado de todos los operadores registrados en el Registro General de establecimientos y distribuidores de productos reproductivos.
