Observations

Spain approved the first Maritime Spatial Plans (POEM) through Royal Decree 150/2023. These plans are in turn a development of Law 41/2010, of 29 December, on the Protection of the Marine Environment, which means that the basic objective of the law, to achieve or maintain good environmental status, is the framework within which the maritime sectors can develop in a sustainable manner. The ecosystem approach is thus one of the pillars of both the Law and the Royal Decree. More information at
