Definition

The current account balance (%GDP) represents the surplus or deficit of the total economy in its current operations (exchanges of goods and services, primary income and current transfers) with the rest of the world in proportion to GDP at current prices.

Calculation method

\[ \text{Sdo_Cta_Cte}^{t}(\% PIB)=\frac{\text{Sdo_Cta_Cte}^{t}}{PIB^{t}} \cdot 100 \]Where: \(\text{Sdo_Cta_Cte}^{t}\)is the current account balance of the total economy in year t and \(PIB^{t}\)is the gross domestic product at current prices in year t.
