Jurisdiction of the Electoral Census Office regarding Jury Court:
The Jury Court is an institution for involving citizens in Administering Justice.
Organic Law 5/1995, of 22 May, of the Jury Court assigns the Electoral Census Office the following areas of jurisdiction in drafting the list of candidates for jury service.
Each Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office selects at random within the last fifteen days in September of equal-numbered years in order to obtain the provincial list of candidates for jury service by taking the Electoral Census in force on the day of the draw.
For this purpose, the Electoral Census list in force is sent beforehand to Municipal Councils for public display during seven days. The draw is held in a previously-announced public session.
Once the draw has been carried out, provisional lists are obtained of candidates for jury service posted in Municipal Council offices and published in the Official Gazette of each Province during the last fifteen days in October, and claims may be submitted during the first fifteen days in November.
In the case of claims considered, the Provincial Delegations of the Electoral Census Office obtain the final lists of candidates for jury duty, to be sent to the Chairpersons of the respective Provincial Courts.
