Description
Net domestic energy use attributable to final consumption and investment in Spain and the EU, in per capita terms
Calculation method
$$\textit{PPUINED}^{t}=\frac{\textit{UINED}^{t}}{\textit{P}^{t}} $$
,where \(UINED^{t}\) refers to the net domestic use of energy attributable to the final demand (final consumption and investment) of resident economic units in year t, and \(P^{t}\) corresponds to the population on 1 July of year t.

Observations
This indicator measures the domestic energy consumption of Spain and the EU embedded in goods and services delivered for final use (domestic energy footprint). The resulting estimates capture the amount of energy used throughout the domestic production chain of a product intended for final consumption or investment, regardless of the sector in which the energy consumption occurred.
The estimates are based on environmentally extended input-output modelling for the aggregated economy. The model reallocates energy consumption from productive activities (domestic energy use) to the final products produced.
