Statistical information for the analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis
This section collects information for the study of different phenomena that may be of interest to analyse the economic, social and demographic situation of the health alert period caused by the effects of COVID-19. Indicators, graphs and reports that the INE usually produces as part of its statistical activity are presented, as well as other materials specifically developed for a better monitoring of the current situation during the ongoing crisis.

Institutional collaboration during the alert state period
The National Statistics Institute provides technical support and collaboration on different projects to monitor and evaluate the social, sanitary and economic situation during the alert state period. Among these we can mention:
- Methodological support on the sample design for the epidemiological study to measure the spread of corona virus contagion, carried out by the National Centre for Epidemiology, part of the Carlos III Health Institute.
- Conducting the study on population mobility during the confinement period, which is coordinated by the State Secretariat for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation.
- Technical collaboration on the study regarding the factors determining different COVID-19 expansion rates, carried out by the National Centre for Epidemiology of the Carlos III Health Institute. The INE will collaborate on the development of methods that allow for the incorporation of mobile phone data into this project, as well as elaboration and analysis of an epidemic growth rate prediction model and in the study of the potential use of existing statistical sources.
- Requests from different entities for custom information operations related to monitoring of the crisis situation.
Impact on Statistical Activity
The crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic also has an impact on the production of the National Statistics Institute (INE). At the INE we are requesting the collaboration of our informants in order to be able to maintain the statistical production calendar as planned, which will allow us to continue to regularly monitor —even under these conditions— the demographic and social characteristics of the Spanish population, as well as our country's economic activity
The INE has issued the following institutional statements regarding this impact:
In statistical matters, the INE is part of the European Statistical System (SEE), which acts jointly to guarantee the comparability of official statistics.
